About the Writer
Thank you for visiting San Francisco Food!
Having been a foodie basically since I could chew on solids, I thought it due time that I created a blog about food. Given that I live in San Francisco, CA, one of the world’s best locations for food, this blog will focus primarily on food and restaurants in San Francisco, but may expand to food from other locations as well.
To tell you a bit about myself – I have been fortunate enough to travel the world since childhood and well through adulthood, and have eaten at some of the best eateries known to mankind. I have discerning taste when it comes to food, but when it comes to restaurant experiences – I value ambiance, good service, and cost, too, to some extent. If I have to take a second mortgage to eat dinner at a certain location, the taste better justify the cost.
Several restaurants in the SF Bay Area have contributed their initial success to my restaurant reviews. Other restaurant owners of businesses I have reviewed have written me to come back and try their food again to prove that I was wrong, and sometimes, they succeeded. More often than not, they failed yet again.
On SF Food, you will see reviews of restaurants I’ve visited in the past, or in some cases, I may review restaurants on the day I tried their food. I’ve also been adding some cooking posts, just for kicks, of popular dishes I cook.
In any case, whether you’re visiting San Francisco, or living in this beautiful city of mine – enjoy, and let me know if you disagree (or agree). I always enjoy hearing from people.
Please join me on Facebook — you can keep up with us via your Newsfeed. Also – passing along the website to share with your friends is the greatest compliment you can extend. The more readers I have, the more fun it is to write! You can also contact me directly through my About.me page; the link is located below.
NEWSFLASH: I’ve been commissioned to write the next “Food Lovers’ Guide to San Francisco”, being published by Globe Pequot Publishing — due out late 2011! Stay tuned!

Smoochum to KK!
Hey Grace!
Did you see the current issue of Bon Apetit? There’s an article on SF restaurants- I immediately thought of you (after I stopped salivating!)!!
Mary – I haven’t seen it yet! Is it available online?
Hope all is well with you!
Dear Grace,
While I believe that you are a thoughtful, honest person, I have discovered one blatant lie on your blog: that you may have a shortage of dinner dates. Really?? I would gladly volunteer, so if you ever feel the need to get your middle-aged white gay guy on, just call me! I am loaded with local and Hollywood gossip… let’s dish & Dish!
Kisses,
The Lotionman
Haha!!
OK, Lotionman — if ever I feel that urge, I’ll be letting you know!
PS: HOW ABOUT SUGGESTIONS FOR THE FIRST FIVE RESTAURANTS PLEASE…..
Thanks for your comment, Evie! Much appreciated.
Hmm, first five in SF? That’s a tough one, because there’s a top five for basically all cuisines! Pizza? Burgers? Pasta? Sushi?
Off the top of my head, the few that should not be missed are as follows:
-Acquerello $$$$
-Ino Sushi $$$
-Hard Knox Cafe $$
-Izakaya Sozai $$
-Shabu House $$
I’ve reviewed 4/5 on SF Food so you can pull them up on a search; Izakaya Sozai, I will try to do this week.
We’ve just moved to Marin from Lost Angeles!
I had intended to try one restaurant a week in the city from the 38 restaurant review list. However, after reading your comment – I shall not be doing that now. Am a Zagat member, which I find fairly reasonable with their descriptions, but I do go by the comments left.
So far, we have not hit one bad restaurant, unlike L.A. where it is hard to hit a good one! Shall be following you. Thanks for an alternative.
I’m still thinking about the porridge I had in Tahoe. It was amazing.
San francisco, golden gate and food!
Amazing combination! Is it nice to live there?
Hello there! Would you mind if I share your blog with my facebook group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really enjoy your content. Please let me know. Thanks
It would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for the food articles – and also, this nicely done post about the Sendai earthquake. Very well written!
Thanks, Alan! We have to help however we can, right?
Grace –
You have turned a ‘non-foodie’ into a true ‘foodie’. Thank you so much for all of the entertaining and informative reviews and photos.
You are a very special lady and SF is lucky to have you. Hope that you have an extra smokey single malt on me.
Me
Lois – thanks for the kind words!
Can’t ask for a better project: eat, take photos, then write about it!
Thank you for reading!

Grace,
I truly enjoyed reading your blog. I too am a foodie and share your opinion on a few of the restaurants.
Keep up the good work. I would love to join you when and if you decide to review additional place and have no one to go with.

Dear Grace
Enjoy your blog to keep up on the food scene in SF as it makes me miss the food there since I’m been in HK for a number of years…
Cheers
